Prof. Khalifa S. Al-Jabri

Chair of Scientific Committee

Prof. Al-Jabri obtained his BSc in Civil Engineering from Sultan Qaboos University in 1991 and MSc and PhD degrees from The University of Sheffield, UK in 1993 and 2000, respectively. After obtaining the PhD, he joined the Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering as an Assistant Professor and in 2006, he was promoted to an Associate Professor and appointed as the Assistant Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research in the College of Engineering. In 2011, he was promoted to a Professor and appointed as the Head of the department of Civil and Architectural Engineering until September 2017. He served as member in the State Council of Oman from 2011-2015. In 2015, he received the Best Researcher’s Award from Sultan Qaboos University. He also received the Distinguished Scientist Award from Venus International Foundation in 2016 and the pioneer Engineer’s award from the Gulf Union of Engineers in 2017. Prof. Al-Jabri a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), UK since 2015
and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), USA in 2018.


Prof. Tasneem Perveez


Prof. Tasneem Pervez is currently working as full Professor at the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, College of Engineering, Sultan Qaboos University, Oman. He is a actively involved in R&D activities in the fields of solid expandable tubular technology, elastomers, composite materials, computational mechanics and application of Finite Element Method to simulate processes and solve engineering problems. Majority of his research work over the last twenty years had applications in oil and gas industry. He has published over 120 scholarly articles in refereed journals and conferences in addition to the various book chapters. He had also held various administrative positions in Oman and outside. His active involvement in engineering education started dated back in 1995 and continued with extensive work on curriculum development, curriculum delivery, assessment and evaluation, active learning strategies, future engineering education, etc. He has also delivered various training courses and 2-5 days workshops on Accreditation, Program Assessment & Evaluation, Active Learning Strategies, Project & Problem Based Learning, etc.


Dr. Chaham Alalouch


Dr. Chaham Alalouch is an educator, researcher, designer and architectural engineer with a background in urbanism. He is concerned about how to improve people’s quality of life through sustainable built environment. He believes that the built environment (building and cities) is made for people and it should be designed and constructed as such. Dr. Chaham’s research and teaching have been recognized for excellence. His Ph.D. was awarded the MacFarlane Prize by Heriot-Watt University, UK, and one of his peer-reviewed journal papers was awarded the Highly Commended Award at the Emerald Literati Network Awards for Excellence, UK. He has been also awarded the Best Academician Award by Sultan Qaboos University, Oman, in 2019.


He has authored, coauthored and edited a large number of articles, books, and technical reports covering a wide range of topics. Dr. Chaham held invited talks and keynote speeches at several international conferences. He also acts as a reviewer for a range of reputable journals, and as a scientific responsible for a number of international design schools, demonstrating academic leadership. Dr. Chaham is one of the editors of the book series “Advances in Science, Technology & Innovation: IEREK Interdisciplinary Series for Sustainable Development” by Springer, which has 16 books with more to come; and he is responsible for book proposals submitted in the field of Sustainable Architecture, Urbanism, and Architectural Heritage.


He is currently teaching and researching at Sultan Qaboos University in Oman, having previously researched and taught at universities in the UK and Syria. There, he also worked in several architectural consultancy firms and in two European commission-funded projects.


Dr. Muhamed Bilal Waris


Dr. Muhammad Bilal Waris is Assistant Professor in Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering at Sultan Qaboos University. He earned his Ph.D in 2010 for the University of Tokyo, Japan. His research interests include: Structural Dynamics, Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Education.

Eng. Khamis Salim Al Souli

A skilled and highly experienced Senior Manager with experience of establishing and managing two Ministerial Departments, and more recently the establishment and management of the Omani arm of Driver Trett, a part of the Driver-Group plc. A Civil Engineer SQU and U.K graduate, and both Chairman and Fellow of the Society of Omani Engineers Fellow of institute of Civil Engineer . An individual who throughout his career has been responsible for, and delivered, a significant portfolio of nationally and internationally important projects. Devoted his Time as Advisor who continues to promote engineering excellence, knowledge transfer and the professional qualification & training of local staff throughout the Sultanate of Oman.

Eng. Hamood Salim Al Sinaidi

Chair of the Organizing Committee  

Engineer Hamood Salim Al Sinaidi is a graduate of Tulsa university, Oklahoma, U.S.A in December, 1989. He held a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering and he first started his career by Joying Halliburton worldwide company as a field engineer in May 1990.
During his 15 years with Halliburton he progressed within the organization through different technical and leadership capacities and positions and worked in international locations including USA and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Since March 2005, he changed his career path by working on downstream as VP of Marketing and Shipping at Qalhat LNG and later as chief Marketing Officer with Oman LNG. Eng. Hamood bring together more than 27 years of professional experience in the Oil & Gas Industry, encompassing Technical Matters, Sales, Marketing and Business Development. Moreover, he has held the position of Human Resource Development Manager where he was responsible for the Omanisation (Nationalisation) programme and Human Resource Development while with Halliburton.
From January 2017 he has been Seconded to Oman Society of Engineers (OSE) as Chief Executive Officer to lead OSE activities, and advance the society to further meet its objectives which ultimately supports the engineering discipline, accommodates the evergrowing demand and addresses engineering challenges in the Sultanate.


Eng. Abdullah Al Busaidi


Graduated with Mechanical Engineer Bachelor Degree, started my Career with Petroleum Development of Oman as Petroleum Engineer looking to different wells and cluster production. After 8 years I been appointed to In-Country Value department as Local business Development Lead and my main role is to get local vendors doing business with PDO by developing their skills and getting them opportunities in PDO contracts. I have joined Oman society of Engineers as student in 2007 and take many roles such as head of youth committee, supervising of events committee for 4 years and recently Board member and General secretary since 2016. I have interest in Mastering Events and Conferences (Arabic & English) a and Facilitating of Media Press and Seminars.


Anahita Farzam

Event Director  

Anahita Farzam has completed her Master Degree in Management of International Law in university of Tehran.
She is currently holding the role of Legal Advisor and Event Manager of Oman Society of Engineers, the exclusive body serving the engineering community and contributing to the development of Oman since 2018.
Her expertise lies in successfully developing and implementing general and specialized programs plans, establishing solid relationships with vendors and customers, and facilitating marketing and promotional efforts to maximize profits and attendance while ensuring seamless execution and participant satisfaction and conduct 1in-depth market research and analysis, as well as her expertise in developing targeted marketing communications to make a significant contribution to Oman Society of Engineers in this role.
